Post-race priorities
At the end of each televised race there is one winning horse, one winning set of owners, one trainer and staff, one jockey.
What Sky Channel overlooks is that there are thousands of punters who have had bets including quinellas, trifectas, doubles and all other methods of wagering.
These people have to wait until whenever until the dividends are posted. Sometimes they wait in vain after the last.
Why cannot the powers that be realise they televise the races to stimulate betting for all viewers? Screen, half-screen or strip all the dividends while all the winning congratulations and wonderment are screening.
This would also apply to any race where coverage was promptly curtailed because of commitments. Let the punters know what they have won as soon as possible to keep the punting flowing.
If a survey was held regarding post-race priorities you would find the overwhelming response would be, “What did I win?” as opposed to “Please hurry up and show me some excited owners jumping up and down.”
