Level the field

I was looking at the weights for a fillies-and-mares 0-89 race at Moonee Valley on February 8 and was amazed a horse with a rating of 89 could only be 5kg ahead of a horse that was rated 60. This compressed weight scale is a severe disadvantage to the lower-rated horses.
Weight is supposed to be the leveller, but this is not the case here. The weight difference should be a minimum of 8kg.
I know the weight situation was addressed some years ago, but it needs to be revisited. The minimum weight should come down to 53kg while the top end can go up 1kg if need be.
Make this a level playing field.
