Don't speak for me
Watching the Mornington Cup day on TVN it amused me and others with me how Bruce Clarke and Shane Templeton condoned Glen Boss, the supreme exhibitionist, doing yet another Roy Rogers impersonation.
No one doubts his ability but to have Bruce and Shane tell us the punters love it ... wrong, wrong!
Don’t put all of us in that bracket. We are avid punters and most in our group backed the winner. It was a top ride (on Tuscan Fire), we all agreed.
However, how on earth could Boss make a case to the Mornington stewards (in defence of his celebratory action)?
There are young apprentices out there who all want to be in the class of Boss. In recent times this (Boss style of celebrating) has been happening too often. There will be an accident one day if the trend continues.
I can’t remember Higgins, Moore, White, Quinton, Cook and Beadman ever standing virtually on the horse’s withers as they crossed the line.
Finally, there are two photos of So You Think winning back-to-back Cox Plates as the horse crossed the line. One has Boss standing as tall as the winning post — it was all about him. The other shows Steve Arnold melting into the horse.
Which one would you prefer on your wall?
